Traumatic events can sometimes hijack our brains leaving us feeling out of control.

Traumatic events can sometimes leave us feeling out of control and experiencing nightmares, panic attacks and flashbacks which can be frightening and confusing. We appear to have lost control of how we store and deal with the memory.
This is often called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) where the memory is trapped in the emotional part of the brain and unable to connect with our reasoning part of the brain, therefore keeping us in the moment of trauma. Click here to read my post on emotional and physical trauma.
In my clinic, when working with the effects of trauma, I use healing, calming and soothing massage techniques, encourage deep abdominal breathing, and provide a safe and confidential space.
This may allow clients to identify their physical trauma and experience relief from the symptoms associated with trauma exposure.
These treatments are not a substitute for professional psychiatry, counselling or CBT therapy sessions.
